Welcome to the porch, where we talk, conjure, and explore: Black Traditions, Superstitions, Magic, Folklore, and More.
The Hidden Porch exists to preserve, protect, and pass down the wisdom of our elders, our culture, and our spirit. This is a gathering place for stories, traditions, recipes, remedies, root work, and the everyday magic that shaped us. My mission is to keep our ancestry alive by teaching with love, honoring where we come from, and creating a space where folks feel seen, supported, and empowered to walk in their purpose.
The Hidden Porch is more than a brand, it is a legacy, a library, and a home for anyone seeking guidance, healing, connection, and truth. Here, we carry the old ways forward with respect, clarity, and heart , so the next generation never has to search for what was already ours.

"Down here, wisdom don’t come in textbooks , it come in whispers."
Step onto the porch where the spirit speaks, the ancestors watch, and every saying carries power. Whispers from the Hidden Porch is a soulful, raw, and powerful collection of over 300 old Southern Black sayings, omens, traditions, folk prayers, curses, and hidden spells , each rooted in the lived experience of Black Southern life.
Organized into eight spirit-led chapters, this book holds everything from:
Whether it was said in a whisper, a hum, a prayer, or a curse , these are the voices of grandmothers, aunties, church elders, porch prophets, and neighborhood seers. Written in the unmistakable voice of a 43-year-old Southern Black woman from Pensacola, FL, Tamika Kelley (a.k.a. Meeka ) brings you a work that is not just a book , it’s an altar, a remembrance, and a testimony.
If you grew up hearing, “A hard head makes a soft behind,”
Or if you’ve ever had your spirit shift when someone said, “She got that old oil on her,”
This book is for you.
Pull up a chair. Let’s remember what they tried to make us forget.
